Hello, I’m Lena.

I write and talk about attention, cities and the quieter parts of the internet.

I grew up in London, spent four years on community radio in Hackney, and moved to Lisbon in 2016 with one suitcase. That autumn I started Low Tide, a letter every other Sunday, for eleven readers. It now goes to 6,400.

In 2020 I started Slow Signals, unhurried conversations with acousticians, novelists, booksellers and fado singers about attention and sound. I give a few talks a year, and I’m writing my first book.

For ten years all of this lived in four different places. This site is where it all lives now — every letter, episode, talk and thread worth keeping, on one address, under my own name.
